Two ASPs Arrested in APSC Cash-for-Job Scandal Admit to Cheating in Exam

I Assam

In Guwahati, two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) got into trouble for cheating in the Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE) of 2013. They were arrested on November 22. The investigation team found strong evidence against them. They admitted to using fake answer sheets to get higher marks.

The accused, Aishwarya Jibon Baruah and Shahjahan Sarkar, were caught because their answer sheets had extra pages added. This was confirmed by a forensic report. They got their government jobs in Assam by cheating, along with another person, Rakesh Kumar Paul, and some officials.

The investigators want to question them more to understand how this cheating happened and who else was involved. They think more people might be part of this. The police don't want to let them out on bail as doing this might affect the investigation.

The inquiry also found that 37 officers who passed the CCE in 2013 were involved in this cheating scandal.
