In Assam, there's a recurring issue of fake gold making headlines, and recently, another case has surfaced. This time, three individuals from Bangalmara in Lakhimpur district deceived a man from Jharkhand by selling him counterfeit gold at a hotel in Paltan Bazar about a month ago.

The culprits behind this fraudulent act were identified as Mokibul Islam, Billal Hussain, and Atiqul Islam. They managed to swindle Rs 3.50 lakh from the unsuspecting victim. The incident led to the registration of a case (503/2023) at the Paltan Bazaar police station.

Fortunately, the authorities were able to apprehend the three fraudsters thanks to CCTV footage from the hotel where the fake gold transaction took place. Based on the case filed at the Paltan Bazar police station, the Bihpuria Police took action and arrested the culprits in Bangalmara. Subsequently, they were handed over to the Paltan Bazaar police.

It's worth noting that to make the counterfeit gold appear genuine and ancient, the fraudsters shaped it into various forms, including boats and even representations of Jesus Christ.
