Guwahati: The artistic community of Assam is in mourning following the death of Hemen Das, a celebrated cine artist and a former Rajat Kamal Award winner in the 80’s. He passed away today at his residence in Guwahati at the age of 84. Known for his extraordinary talent, Das's contribution to Assamese cinema was immense, especially recognized for his work in the film "Juj."
His passing has cast a shadow of sadness over the world of cinema in Assam. Himangshu Sarmah, the Joint Secretary of Sanskar Bharati, Assam state unit, expressed his condolences, remarking that Das's demise marks the end of a golden era in Assamese cinema.
Gauri Sankar Das, ACS, the District Development Commissioner of Kamrup Metro and son of Hemen Das, confirmed the news of his father's passing. The artistic community and fans across Assam and beyond are paying their respects to the late artist, remembering his significant contributions to the world of cinema and the cultural fabric of Assam.
