Morigaon, November 14: Water Resources, Information and Public Relations Minister Piyush Hazarika today attended a special function of Assam Cultural Mahasangram at Ras Mandir of Baghjap Gaon Panchayat in Morigaon district. The 2023-24 Assam Cultural Mahasangram 2023-24, organized by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Assam with the aim of bringing out cultural talents at the grassroots level, has already started in various Gaon Panchayats and Municipalities in Morigaon district. The minister said the program is the result of the fertile thinking of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma. He said programs like Assam Khel Maharan and Sanskritik Mahasangram have been organized to provide a platform to cultural and sports talents in rural areas of the state. He said the skills of many artists wither in the bud due to lack of a suitable platform. Therefore, the government considers it its responsibility to provide a platform for talented artists and athletes. He urged the people to cooperate in this program and talented teenagers and individuals to participate in this programme. Speaking at the function, District Commissioner Devashish Sharma said that Morigaon district is very advanced in cultural aspects. He said the competition will open a new door of possibilities for the artists in the district. He also urged the contestants to come forward and participate in this large cultural programme. The District Commissioner welcomed the Minister with a beautiful song. Earlier, the District Commissioner invited the people and students to perform the song of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika titled "Manuhe Manuh Ke Liye" in unison. Several cultural programs were also held as part of the programme. The event was attended by District Nodal Officer of Cultural Mahasangram and Additional District Commissioner Dr. Sangeeta Barthakur, District Cultural Officer Rajiv Kairi, prominent social worker Apurba Deka and many other dignitaries.byte Piyush Hazarika.
