T Morigaon
The Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Wednesday called a sit-in in Morigaon district across Assam. They chanted slogans like 'We don't want CAA, Assam should introduce inter-state Inner Line Permit (ILP)soon' and 'Central Government Hai Hai' from 10 am to 1 pm. The union's district president Jyotirmay Goswami and general secretary Mirza Arif Alam participated in the protest. The union's central joint secretary Lalil Chandra Pachani, executive member Momin Chandra Das, Assam Jatiya Parishad Morigaon district president Jayant Deka and more than 200 Yuva Chhatra Parishad workers participated in the protest. After the programme, a memorandum signed by the President and General Secretary of the District Committee of the organization was sent to the President through the Morigaon District Commissioner. The memorandum said that India is a democratic country. A government elected by the people is allowed to act in the interest of the people for a term of five years. Unfortunately, the BJP-led Union Government is showing the apathetic attitude to the people of Assam and continuing to work only for its own political gain. Most recently, on the eve of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Prime Minister or Home Minister of the BJP-led government or the Chief Ministers of various states in various parts of the country have made statements in rallies that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will come into force. They want to benefit politically by raising the issue of CAA again. This CAA is against the Assamese national life, against the North East, against the Constitution of India. The AJYCP has been demanding for the past four decades that ILP should be introduced in Assam to protect the indigenous people of Assam and to be politically secure. This is because migrant and invasive populations have caused widespread damage to indigenous people. Home Minister Amit Shah passed the CAA on December 11, 2019, canceling the ILP idea to Assam and saying it would apply to Manipur only. It was that day the people of Assam realized the relevance of ILP in Assam ,the AJyCP said in a Press release.
