A Assam
Assam has to spend about Rs 143 crore from the special funds given by the Government of India. These funds are part of a big plan that includes 43 projects, some of which started back in 2016-17.
Assam, which had issues with rebel groups like BLT, UDPS, DHD, etc., in areas like BTAD (now BTR), Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao, got these funds. The Government of India signed agreements (MoS) with these groups to end the conflict and promised to help develop these areas.
The Central Government planned 103 projects to improve BTAD, KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council), and NCHAC (North Cachar Autonomous Council) areas. As of October 31, 2023, the Centre said it would give Rs 1175.93 crore for these 103 projects. But, a report from the Ministry of DoNER (Development of North Eastern Region) shows that 43 of these projects still need to be finished.
For example, there's a project to build an RCC bridge over the Numbor River. This bridge, costing Rs 3.84 crore, is halfway done. Another bridge over the Puthimari River, costing Rs 8 crore, is also only half finished.
To really help these areas, it's important to quickly use the money from the Central Government. These funds are meant to improve life in BTAD, KAAC, and NCHAC areas.
