Mumbai Police has filed a case against fashion influencer Urfi Javed and three others. They made and shared a video that looked like Urfi was being arrested for wearing very short clothes. This video was shared online last Friday but is no longer available. It showed two women, looking like police officers, taking Urfi because of her outfit.
Later, it turned out that this video was just an advertisement for a clothing brand. But, because there was no explanation with the video online, many people thought Urfi was actually arrested.
Mumbai Police cleared up the confusion with a message on Instagram. They said the video wrongly used the police symbol and uniform. They have now filed a legal case against the people who made this confusing video.
The Instagram post from Mumbai Police said you can't break the law just to get attention. They said, "A video that looks like Mumbai Police arresting a woman for indecent dressing is fake - the police symbol and uniform were wrongly used." They also said, "But we have filed a case against those who made this fake video, at Oshiwara Police Station under several legal sections."
In the video, the women dressed as cops went to Urfi Javed and told her to come to the police station. Urfi asked why, and they said it was because of her very short clothes.
Then they took Urfi in a car that looked like a police car to a police station. This was all planned to tell people about Urfi's work with a clothing brand.
A police officer told the newspaper that the video made people believe that Mumbai Police arrest women for wearing short clothes, which is not true and made the police look bad. Also, because the people in the video wore police uniforms without being real officers, the police have now filed a case against them.
