Auckland, New Zealand: Esteemed cricket umpire Billy Bowden is set to become the first New Zealand umpire to officiate in 200 first-class matches. This remarkable achievement will be celebrated this weekend during the Plunket Shield match between Auckland and Northern Districts at Kennard’s Hire Community Oval.

Bowden's umpiring career spans over three decades, beginning with his first-class debut at Eden Park in a Shell Trophy fixture in 1993. Over the years, he has become one of the most recognizable and respected figures in world cricket, known for his unique and eccentric umpiring signals.

International Acclaims and Domestic Commitments:
With 85 Test matches, 221 ODIs, and 48 T20Is (including both men’s and women’s matches) under his belt, Bowden has made a significant impact on the international stage. His career highlights include officiating in four ODI World Cups, two T20 World Cups, and the memorable 2005 Ashes series in England. Despite his international success, Bowden has remained a steadfast presence in New Zealand’s domestic cricket scene, having stood in 377 List-A matches and 209 T20s.
