In Mizoram's Champhai District, 1,400 people from Myanmar, including families, have found refuge recently. This happened because of a big fight between Myanmar's Army and a group called People's Defence Force. The fight made people leave Myanmar and come to Mizoram for safety.
V.L. Hruaimawia, an official from Champhai, said these new refugees, including men, women, and kids, came from Myanmar's Chin area. The local government is helping them with food, shelter, and medical care. Now, there are over 7,000 refugees in Champhai.
The fight in Myanmar got worse when the People's Defence Force attacked two military bases. This led to many people being hurt or killed. Mizoram shares a long border with Myanmar, and since 2021, when Myanmar's government changed, around 32,000 people have come to Mizoram for safety.
In Mizoram, the government, churches, and local groups are all helping these refugees. They belong to the Chin community, who are like the Mizo people in culture and language. The Mizoram government asked India's central government for help with these refugees, but they are still waiting for an answer.
Mizoram's Chief Minister Zoramthanga has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking for financial and other help for these refugees.
