In Assam, this Diwali was different and emotional for over 200 families who were moved from Silsako Beel. Instead of celebrating, they asked for justice. Bhupen Kumar Borah, the APCC President, supported these families. He stressed the need to give them proper compensation and help them find new homes quickly. These families had to leave their homes because of many eviction drives. They lit lamps during Diwali as a sign of their fight for fair compensation and to get their homes back.
These families had been living on this land for more than 30 years. Now, they are caught in a legal issue about who owns the land. This problem is because of the rules in the Assam Land Law of 1989 and 2019. While the whole country was celebrating Diwali, these families had their own "Diwali of Sorrow." This was to remind people of their ongoing fight for their rights.
Bhupen Kumar Borah's visit was a big support for them. He told the families that the people of Assam are with them, even if they can't say it out loud. Other important people, like Gayatri Bori, also came. They prayed that Maa Kali would make the state's leaders kind and fair.
Leaders from different groups, like Indu Bora, Bitumoni Das Begum, Nami Halder, and Momina Begum, showed their support too. Also, Bidyut Saikia and Akash Doley from the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti were there. Their support made it clear that this cause is important. This Diwali at Silsako Beel was not about fun and joy. It was a powerful message of staying strong together and fighting for what is right.
