8th Assam International Agricultural Horticultural Crop Fair :: Farmers and farmer groups of Morigaon district won the  maximum prizes

 The Morigaon district agriculture department won the highest awards at the 8th Assam International Agricultural, Horticulture Crop Fair held at the grounds of Khanapara Veterinary College, Guwahati recently. A total of 16 awards have been received in several categories for farmers, farmer groups and self-help groups involved in the production of various products in collaboration with the  Morigaon District Agriculture Officer's Office. District Agriculture Officer, Morigaon Ashok Sharma said the Amlighat Organic Banana Producers Group (FPC) under Jagiroad Krishi Chakra of the district has won the best award for producing organic banana chips. The awards were officially presented to the group by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma. Padmeswar Nath, a farmer under Rajamayang Krishi Chakra, won first prize in two categories in vegetable production. Similarly, Sonaram Bania won first prize in production of sweet pepper under Gasharguri Krishi Chakra. Padmeswar Nath of Rajamayang Krishi Chakra won two awards in several other categories. Hitesh Deka, a farmer under Bhurbandha Krishi Chakra, has received two awards for his production of cauliflower and cardamom. Mani Medhi of the same agricultural circle won the second prize for producing oranges. Similarly, Manti Deka of Jonbeel  Agricultural Production Group under Jagiroad Krishi Chakra won the second prize for preparing pitha-pana, sesame laddu etc. Reena Doley of the same group won the second prize for preparing pepper pickles. Dwipen Singh Deka of Gasharguri Krishi Chakra won the second prize for garlic production and Dinesh Chouhan of Gerua Krishi Chakra won the second prize for coconut production. Meanwhile, Taizuddin Ahmed of Jaluguti Krishi Chakra won the second best farmer award in both the categories for coconut and coconut production.  Morigaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma congratulated the farmers and the district agriculture department on the achievement. He also urged other farmers to  go ahead on this sector to take the district forward through agriculture.
