Minister Piyush Hazarika launches and inaugurates several development schemes in Barhampur constituency of Nagaon

The Minister of Water Resources, Information and Public Relations, Piyush Hazarika today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development schemes in Barhampur Assembly constituency of Nagaon district. The Water Resources Minister first visited the Swahid Bhawan in Barhampur and officially inaugurated the reconstructed building with MLA funds. The minister paid tributes to four freedom fighters of the area namely martyrs Bhogeshwari Phuknani, martyr Lakshi Hazarika, martyr Bolo Sut and martyr Thagi Sut respectively. The minister addressed a meeting at Swahid Bhawan and remembered the freedom fighters of the country. The 855 martyrs of the Assam movement were paid tribute on the occasion of Martyrs' Day celebrated across the state today.

The Minister later attended the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra program organized in Kathiatali Development  Block of Barhampur constituency. The Minister said that the Government of India has been working for the welfare of all sections of the society during the nearly four to nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure and urged everyone to participate in the Developed India Sankalp Yatra. The Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Sadbhavana Bhawan under Kathiatali Development Zone.

In the evening, Minister Piyush Hazarika inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several projects under six schemes of three departments of the state government at a public meeting held at Kathiatali along with MLAs Jitu Goswami and Rupak Sharma. The Minister inaugurated the completed erosion control scheme at Tetelisara village on the left bank of Nishari river at a cost of Rs 1 crore sanctioned under M & R category of Water Resources Department, bridge over Nishari river under Public Works Department and Purigudam Agricultural Development Officer's office building . The minister also officially inaugurated the erosion control scheme of West Tetelisara village on the left bank of Haria river sanctioned under NABARD category of the Water Resources Department and repair work of roads connecting Amlakhi, Kathiatali, Kampur, Chaparmukh and Raha under two projects of Public Works Department.

The minister said the government of Assam led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma is working for the welfare of the common people and development of the state as per its election promises. He said the government has provided government jobs to 88,000 youths on full merit basis so far, including construction of medical colleges, special assistance to unemployed youths under Self-Reliant Assam, microfinance loan waiver and Rs. 27 lakh under Arunodoi scheme Monthly assistance to families All this is possible only due to the sincere goodwill of the Chief Minister. The minister said the state government will take Assam towards new horizons of development despite all the challenges. The Minister received a huge response from the local people at all the functions today.
