The District Commissioner of Morigaon district has emphasized on developing the historical Kainakanda Hills as a tourist attraction

District Commissioner of Morigaon Devashish Sharma today visited the historical Kainakanda Hills in Baghara area of the district and observed various aspects to develop the entire area full of historical beauty as a tourist attraction. The District Commissioner visited several caves in the Kainakanda Hills on the initiative of Bharat Chandra Nath, a local  Researcher who has been involved in the study of the caves of the Kainakanda Hills for a long time. He appreciated  Nath's  silent  efforts in the past and said the district administration would continue to make efforts for the expansion and development of the area from now on. He said three caves have already been discovered in the mountain and the district administration will conduct raids in six other caves every Sunday. 

The District Commissioner said there was full potential for tourism development in the area and urged the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct research in these caves. He emphasized the historical significance of Kainakanda Hills and said that there is huge potential for tourism in the entire region and the administration will continue to do its utmost for this from now on. He said these mountains are important places full of historical resources for the entire country. It is noteworthy that one of these caves contains some important artifacts from the Mahabharata period such as the Bhim bowl and bowl along with other items. According to legend, the prince of Mayang and the princess of Baghara were married in love. After the wedding, the bride took refuge in a cave in the Baghara  mountains during the storm and rain. Unfortunately, the bride was trapped in the cave and died after the entrance to the cave was closed due to heavy hailstorm. It is believed that the cries of the bride could be heard on this hill.
