The Assam government is planning to improve a road in Lower Assam, turning it into a bigger, four-lane highway. This road goes from Baxirhat to Bilasipara. The cost of this project  will be about Rs 800 crore. A company called Technocrats Advisory Services Pvt. Ltd., working with Jagadambike Infra Solutions Pvt. Ltd., will handle this project. They have already looked at the area and given their first reports to the Assam Public Works Department (PWD). The PWD checked these reports and gave some feedback.

The upgraded road will be part of National Highway-17 and will be 74 km long. There will be seven new bypass roads along this highway. These bypasses will help traffic move smoothly around busy areas. The project also includes building 25 bridges, including 4 big ones and 21 smaller ones. Plus, there will be seven flyovers at different points. The whole project is expected to take about 108 months to finish. They will start buying the land needed for this work after they finalize the detailed plans.
