In Biswanath, Assam, five people, including a woman, were caught by police for dealing with fake Indian money. The Biswanath Police, during a morning operation, arrested them. This group was making tools for creating counterfeit currency. Among those caught were two journalists.
The police got a tip about someone traveling from Bongalmara in Lakhimpur to Guwahati on a bus. He had a machine believed to be for printing fake money. The Biswanath Police stopped the bus and seized the machine. They arrested the person with it. Then, using information from him, they stopped a Maruti Swift DZire car following the bus. Four more people, including a woman, were in the car and got arrested. The police said the arrested are Fuljar Hussain and Minara Begum from Bihpuria, Ajay Biswakarma from Silapathar, and Ajit Gogoi and Babul Hussain from Dispur. The police are taking legal steps against them.
In a related case in Assam's Nagaon, police detained a man, his wife, and two others for a similar crime. This happened in Simaluguri village, near Kampur, in the Kachua Police Station area. The police had information about a fake currency operation there. They raided the place and detained these four people.
