Assam Government Merges Two Education Boards into One for Better Schooling

R Assam

Recently, the Assam government decided to combine two education boards into one. The two boards, SEBA and AHSEC, will now be the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). This new board will have two parts. One part will handle classes 11 and 12, and the other will take care of classes from pre-primary to class 10.

The new ASSEB will follow the National Education Policy 2020, which changes how students learn. Now, school will be divided into four stages: 5 years for young kids, 3 years for preparation, 3 years in the middle school, and 4 years in the secondary school. This means students will go to school from age 3 to 18.

Two vice-chairpersons will help run ASSEB. They'll look after everything like books, exams, and syllabus. Employees from the old boards will keep their jobs, just in the new board. The new system will start after a bill is passed in the state Assembly. This change is to improve school education in Assam.
