Water Resources Minister Piyush Hazarika today attended a special review meeting on Deep Bill in the presence of senior officials of the department and administrative officers of Kamrup (Metropolitan) district at his office at Janata Bhawan. The meeting was attended by Minister Piyush Hazarika, who said that the Chief Minister is committed to protect Deepar Beel, one of the sources of environmental sustainability in Guwahati. The state government is considering beautifying the lake and building dams around it to develop a tourist destination around the lake while preserving its heritage, beauty and uniqueness. The lake is surrounded by footpaths , cycle tracks, etc. and the lake is being beautifully decorated to facilitate boating.
In today's review meeting, Minister Piyush Hazarika directed the departmental engineers to conduct immediate necessary studies for the ground works to be carried out around the beach in collaboration with the officers of the district administration He said the earth works will be done around the Deepar Beel in stages The Minister also took stock of the progress of the ongoing works of the Water Resources Department. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to the State Government S. Abbasi, Chief Engineer of the department and other officers were present.
