The Fish Landing Center constructed by the Fisheries Department on the banks of Charipunia Beel in Dalanghat Development Zone of Morigaon district under the Assam Agriculture, Trade and Rural Transformation Project (Apart 2021-22) was inaugurated today. The center was officially inaugurated by District Commissioner Devashish Sharma today. The beach has been shared by 250 tribal families in the village for the past 30 years. The District Commissioner highly appreciated the activities of the Lake Development Committee and said that this beach should be an example for the entire Morigaon district. He said the money earned from the bill is not only used for various social and developmental works in the village but also binds 250 tribal families together.

He said there is huge potential for fish production in Morigaon district and urged the unemployed youths of the district to come forward for this work. He appreciated the efforts of the fisheries department. The centre, which was constructed under Apartment at a cost of Rs 5 lakh, will be used to store fish after catching and sell them from there. The lake development committee has been using the funds earned from fish farming to provide one-time assistance to students who have done well in examinations, assistance to patients suffering from accidents and chronic diseases, and donate materials to local religious institutions. The committee contributed Rs 20,000 to the COVID fund with the proceeds from the bill during the pandemic. The lake Development Committee also donated Rs 5,000 during the tsunami in Gujarat. Every year on the day of Magh Bihu, Rs. 2,000 each is given to the families who share the beach along with fish. The beach has united 180 families in the area. It is traditional to hold any function or social activity on the banks of the lake. The event was attended by District Fisheries Development Officer Bhaskar Jyoti Nath and office bearers of the Beach Development Committee along with a number of dignitaries.
