Guwahati: The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and National Health Mission (NHM) in Assam have come together to improve public health. They signed an agreement (MoU) at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati's Khanapara. This event had important guests, including Assam's Public Health Engineering Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and Health Minister Keshab Mahanta.
Their main goal is to make sure people have clean and safe water, which is really important for good health. Officials from NHM and the health department highlighted how big this partnership is.
A key part of this plan is to use the network of ASHA workers from NHM. These healthcare workers will work with JJM to teach people about safe ways to handle water. This is to reduce waterborne diseases, especially in the rural areas.
They want to focus on children's health and stop them from missing school because of waterborne illnesses. The plan is to make sure rural areas have access to safe water with the right mineral levels. This should improve the health and productivity of people in rural areas.
This partnership is a big step by Assam's authorities to tackle issues related to water quality, health, and people's well-being. JJM and NHM are working together to manage water in a way that helps the health and prosperity of the community.
