Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his deep sorrow over a tragic accident in Golaghat that resulted in the loss of 12 lives. He offered prayers for the peace of those who passed away and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. The Chief Minister mentioned that dense fog was a contributing factor to the accident and advised people planning picnics to avoid leaving early in the morning. He suggested waiting until after sunrise for better visibility and safety.

In response to the incident, the police administration has put forward a 12-point set of guidelines (Standard Operational Procedure, SOP) for those going on picnics. These guidelines include recommendations to start the picnic after sunrise and return before sunset. Additionally, it's advised that picnickers inform their local police stations about their destination and other details. These measures are aimed at enhancing safety for everyone involved in such outdoor activities.
