A workshop on "Our Field is Our Story" was held at the office of the District Journalists Association of Morigaon today. The workshop discussed various issues related to agricultural production, various schemes undertaken by the government for farmers etc. Inaugurating the meeting,  Morigaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma said that if we look at the developed countries of the world, we see that no matter how advanced science and technology in those countries, they have never given up their roots. He said people should always hold on to their roots even if they move to the cities. He expressed concern over the massive sale of agricultural land in some parts of Morigaon district and urged the farmers to keep these fields for the next generation and move forward with modern agricultural methods. The meeting was chaired by Deven Das, President of Environmental Conservation Forum and retired subject teacher. The meeting was attended by the President of the Morigaon District Committee of the Assam State Journalists Association Ratul Deka. The workshop was attended by Kishore Kumar Kalita, Advocate of Gauhati High Court and resource person on behalf of Action Aid. Every speaker at the meeting urged the farmers not to sell their farmland.
