In Guwahati, the Assam Police's special task force (STF) made a big catch on Tuesday. They found heroin worth Rs 15 crore in the international market. This happened near the Saraighat bridge. The police caught two people in connection with this.

STF DIG Partha Sarathi Mahanta shared that they got a tip about the drugs. Acting on it, they stopped and checked a vehicle. This is where they found over 1 kilogram of heroin. Mahanta explained that this heroin was smuggled in from Manipur.

The two people who were arrested are Sonu Ali from Garigaon and Arjun Basfore from Jalukbari, both areas in Guwahati. Mahanta mentioned that when the police stopped their vehicle, these two tried to run away. To stop them, the police had to fire two rounds. But they were finally caught.

Right now, the police are investigating more about this case. They are trying to find out more about how the heroin got into Guwahati and possibly other connections to this drug smuggling. This seizure is a big deal because of the large amount of drugs and its high value in the international market. It shows the ongoing efforts of Assam Police to stop illegal drug trafficking in the region.
