Guwahati City to Get New Street Vending Zones

G Guwahati

Guwahati: Guwahati city is facing traffic problems because vendors are setting up shops on footpaths. To solve this, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) plans to make 120 new street vending zones in the city.

This idea came from suggestions by ward councillors. GMC will discuss it more in a meeting with the Zonal Vending Committee on November 29.

A senior GMC official said, "We'll meet on November 29 to talk about making 60 vending zones in each ward, adding up to 120 zones in Guwahati." These zones were proposed by the ward councillors. This move is to help reduce the crowding and traffic issues caused by street vendors.
