Raha's MLA Sachi Kanta Das, accompanied by a significant contingent of the Nagaon Congress, is on the brink of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, they are waiting for the final nod from the BJP's top brass. The potential inclusion of MLA Sachi Kanta Das into the BJP could catalyze developmental initiatives in areas populated by indigenous communities. Despite these developments, it's anticipated that the Muslim minority voter base in Raha will remain loyal to their current political affiliations, ensuring no major shift in the voting patterns for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
In contrast, the potential defections of Suresh Bora and Paritush to the BJP are not expected to significantly influence the Lok Sabha election outcomes. Suresh Bora, a former member of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and a three-time unsuccessful Congress candidate from Barhampur LAC, is seen as joining the BJP for personal advancement and contract opportunities. His joining, however, might present a challenge to the incumbent MLA Jitu Goswami. Similarly, Paritush's switch to the BJP is unlikely to sway the Bengali Hindu voter base significantly.
