In Guwahati, there's a plan to move the Fancy Bazar wholesale market to North Guwahati. This is because the city is getting really crowded, and this move could help make things less busy. The government is thinking about this idea after getting suggestions from city development authorities. They want to build a big logistics park in North Guwahati for all the wholesale businesses from Fancy Bazar, with everything they need.
The idea is still new, and they haven't decided where exactly this park will be. But leaders in Dispur, the administrative area, like this plan because it could really help reduce traffic and crowding in central Guwahati. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is also working on a big plan for the areas between Bharalumukh and Uzan Bazar. They are almost done and will talk to the public about it. This plan is a part of the project called the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). It's focused on fixing really crowded parts of the city. The area they're looking at is about 2700 bighas and is a busy part of Guwahati.
The plan includes making roads wider, adding walkways along buildings, and changing how land is used. Instead of paying people to move, they'll give them something called Transferable Development Rights (TDR). This lets them build more on their property or sell these rights. However, some people are worried about moving the Fancy Bazar market. The All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) said it could cause problems for local businesses and change the whole commercial scene in the area. The plan is still being studied, and the GMDA official didn't say much about it.
