Assam Government Announces Ali Aye Ligang as a State Holiday in 10 Districts

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has made some important decisions recently. First, they announced a new public holiday called 'Ali Aye Ligang Day' in 10 districts, including Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, and Jorhat. This shows their respect for local festivals. Next, they decided to give land to 3,576 families who don't have any land. This will happen in nine districts, like Morigaon and Kamrup. It's part of a project called Mission Basundhara 2.0, which aims to help local people and develop the area. Also, the government is setting up the Khasi-Jaintia Development Council.

This is to help these specific communities and make sure they get all the support and recognition they deserve. Another important step is about the Biate tribe. The government wants to list 'Biate' separately in a special government list. This change is to make sure the Biate tribe is recognized correctly.

Lastly, the government is encouraging people to use electric vehicles (EVs). They are lowering the tax on these vehicles to make them cheaper. This decision is good for the environment and will help reduce pollution. These steps by the government show they care about culture, helping people get land, recognizing tribal groups, and protecting the environment.
