In a significant development for sports in Assam, Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika announced the government's new initiative to provide a robust platform for emerging athletes in the state. This initiative is designed to identify and nurture sporting talent, helping young athletes to excel and gain recognition.

Minister Hazarika shared this exciting news while attending the inauguration of Khel Maharan 2020 in Lakhimpur. Addressing the media, he outlined the government's comprehensive plan to uplift sports in Assam. This plan aims to give a much-needed boost to athletes who have shown potential but lack the necessary support and resources to reach their full potential.

The government's strategy involves creating a structured framework to identify and train talented athletes from various constituencies across the state. The process begins at the grassroots level, with the formation of teams within each constituency. These teams will then compete at the district level, where the best performers will be selected to represent their districts at the state level.

At the state level, a rigorous selection process will be in place to choose the most outstanding athletes. These athletes will receive advanced training and mentoring, preparing them for higher levels of competition. The ultimate goal is to enable these athletes to compete in prestigious national and international sporting events, including the National Games, the Asian Games, and the Olympics.

Minister Hazarika emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step towards addressing the previous lack of a solid sporting infrastructure in Assam. He noted that under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the government is committed to creating opportunities for young athletes and fostering a culture of excellence in sports.

The event at Lakhimpur Government High Secondary School playground, where this announcement was made, was also graced by the presence of MP Pradan Barua and Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka. Their presence underscored the government's collective commitment to this cause.

This announcement marks a new era in sports development in Assam, offering hope and opportunities to young athletes. It signifies the government's dedication to nurturing sporting talent and ensuring that athletes from Assam can compete at the highest levels, both nationally and internationally. This move is expected to have a long-lasting impact on the sports landscape of the state, bringing forth a new generation of athletes who will carry the torch of Assam's sporting legacy into the future.
