Rain has made Delhi's air cleaner. Last night, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and nearby places got rain. This was good for the air, which was quite polluted before.
The rain in Delhi is part of a plan to make artificial rain to fight pollution. Pictures from places like Kartavya Path, ITO, and the Delhi-Noida border show the rain. The air is now much cleaner than before, as per air quality readings.
The weather office says there will be more on-and-off rain in Delhi and nearby areas like Rajiv Chowk, ITO, and India Gate. Places like Noida, Faridabad, and others will also get rain.
Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, talked with IIT-Kanpur about making rain to reduce pollution. They may try this on November 20-21 if the sky is cloudy. The Delhi government will pay for this and discuss it in the Supreme Court.
If the central government agrees, Delhi might see its first man-made rain by November 20. To make artificial rain, substances like silver iodide or dry ice are used to make clouds form rain or snow. This method is used around the world, mainly in dry areas.
