The historic Gobha Deorja's Jonbeel Mela will be held on the banks of jonbeel at Jagiroad in Morogaon district for three days from January 18, 19 and 20 next year 2024. This was disclosed by the President of the Jonbeel Mela Organising Committee, Jursingh Bordoloi, at a press conference today. Mama-Mami of the hills will come and exchange their agricultural products with the food items like Pitha, Sandah etc with the people of plains after the Magh Bihu friday and hills tribal will celebrate their MaghBihu after one week from our plain Magh Bihu. In parallel, the Cock fighting and community fishing festival will be held in Jonbeel. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will be present as the chief guest at the Royal Court to be held at end of the Jonbeel Mela and will handed over Raj Bhatta to the several Tiwa Kings of Central Assam. informed Jursing Bordoloi.
