O Assam
On Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM, the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary was officially opened for the 2026–27 tourism year with a jeep safari.
Assam's Minister of Environment and Forests, Jayanta Malla Baruah, and the newly elected Member of Parliament from the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, Debashish Sharma, inaugurated the new tourism season by embarking on a jeep safari. Located just 32 kilometers away from Guwahati city, this sanctuary is globally renowned not only for its rich biodiversity -abundant with one-horned rhinoceros and numerous other wildlife -but also because it is situated right next to the historic Mayong region, a center of fascination for world-famous historians and researchers.
