Morigaon, November 9: In a significant development, the Morigaon District Commissioner, Devashish Sharma, has uncovered fraudulent practices and corruption within an oil depot located in Morigaon town. The operation, conducted today, targeted the owner of the Indian Oil depot near the Morigaon district library.

The investigation revealed that the oil depot was engaging in deceptive practices by dispensing less fuel than indicated on the oil meter. It was discovered that for every 100 liters of oil, the Indian Oil Depot was providing 10 liters less. District Commissioner Devashish Sharma personally visited the depot and conducted measurements of the oil dispensation in front of witnesses.

Subsequently, the depot was sealed by the District Commissioner of Morigaon as a punitive measure. Speaking to our correspondent, DC Devashish Sharma expressed his concern over the prevalence of such gross irregularities in almost all petrol depots within the Morigaon district. He raised suspicions of an illicit collaboration between the petrol depots and officers from the Weights and Measures Department.

The district administration has initiated punitive actions in response to these findings, signaling a strong stance against corruption and fraudulent practices in the oil industry. This investigation sheds light on the importance of upholding ethical standards and consumer protection in the fuel sector, ultimately working towards a fair and transparent marketplace for all.
