GUWAHATI: A daring mission by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati Railway Station led to a major catch - 500 grams of smuggled gold! The GRP swooped down on the Tejas Express, which was traveling from Agartala to Rajasthan, and found the gold with a suspected smuggler.
In a thrilling operation, the GRP focused on this train and caught the person who was allegedly trying to smuggle the gold. Now, the police are looking into how much this gold is worth and if this is part of a bigger smuggling network.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Just last month, the Border Security Force (BSF) stopped a smuggler at the India-Bangladesh border and seized over half a kilogram of gold, worth around Rs 35.87 lakh. This smuggler and the gold were handed over to the customs office.
These events show that smuggling gold is a big problem in the area, but the police are working hard to stop it. They're looking into the latest case at the Guwahati Railway Station to find out if it's connected to larger smuggling groups. They might look at travel records and work with other agencies to figure out this smuggling puzzle.
The investigation will help us understand if the security measures we have now are good enough and what else we can do to stop smuggling. The teamwork of agencies like the GRP and BSF is really important for keeping our transportation safe and stopping illegal activities like this.
