APSC Cash-for-Job Scam: Officers Avoiding Arrest

I Assam

In the current investigation into the cash-for-job scam in Assam, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is actively pursuing tainted officers. Two ASPs were arrested earlier, and more officers are now under the scanner. The SIT conducted an operation recently to apprehend more suspects who are believed to be evading arrest. It is expected that more individuals will be brought into the investigation soon.

It's important to note that 37 ACS and allied services officers were implicated in the Justice Biplab Sharma Judicial Inquiry Commission's report. These officers are linked to the Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE) of 2013.

Additionally, the SIT has requested permission from a special court to collect handwriting samples from the arrested ASPs, Aishwarya Jibon Baruah and Shahjahan Sarkar. These samples will be sent to the Forensic Laboratory for detailed analysis.

The Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh expressed concern about a recent blast in Tinsukia district. He suggested that this could be an attempt by miscreants to divert attention from the renewed police action on the APSC scam. The police are trying to uncover the truth and bringing those involved in the scam to justice.

On Wednesday evening, a grenade exploded outside an Army camp in Tinsukia district, but fortunately, no casualties were reported. The incident is being investigated.
